Here at Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare, we have SPRINGTIME on the brain thanks to this gorgeous weather – you too? Tulips… sunshine…. sandals…. and our favorite, of course: brand new spring skincare — all with science behind it!
The heavy-duty formulas served us well this winter (ahem, Polar Vortex) but it’s finally time to swap them for lighter textures. Dr. Gross is dedicating a whole hour QVC show to helping you do just that on Thurs., April 17 at 11 AM EST. He’s going to unveil the best of the 2014 solutions, all clinically proven for brighter, tighter skin. Can’t wait? Us either. So here are a few preview tips from Dr. Gross himself in the meantime…
• Winter left us feeling dry and dehydrated. Did you know that Steamer Solutions deep cleans, hydrates, and promotes better exfoliation? Then seal deep moisture into the fresh skin underneath with Hyaluronic Moisture Cushion.
• Dr. Gross advises all of us to use a gentle chemical peel every morning to resurface their skin. Alpha Beta Peels blend alpha and beta hydroxy acids to make skin look firmer, brighter, and smoother.
•If you weren’t using SPF this winter, you should definitely be using one now. Many of us complain that sunscreens are too greasy to use daily. “I created CC Cream SPF 18 to give luxurious but lightweight UVA/UVB coverage,” said Dr. Gross. It immediately moisturizes and brightens the skin, and even hides wrinkles and dark circles.
• Spring and summer temps can cause skin to produce more oil, which leads to blackheads and “stretched out“ pores that create an aged look. I formulated my Clarifying Colloidal Sulfur Mask to visibly reduce the appearance of those enlarged pores for clearer, healthier-looking skin.
•Finally, make sure you’re using a product made with retinol – a dermatologist go-to for anti-aging. The QVC exclusive Ferulic + Retinol Discovery kit contains three bestselling products (perfectly sized for travel) to keep your skin looking fresh and gorgeous no matter where the season takes you. See you on QVC April 17th!
Healthy lips are representative of sensuality. Who could resist wanting the iconic Marilyn Monroe pout? And, after all, healthy lips make a great base for that classic red lipstick.
You already know to take proper care of your skin — but are you taking care of your lips? At their most vulnerable during the coldest months of the year, lips’ thin and transparent skin deserves extra attention. Think gentle exfoliating, moisture, vitamins…and don’t forget to check the ingredients! Avoid chemicals and seek out natural alternatives, as what you put on your skin or lips will be absorbed into your body.
As someone who grew up in an organic environment, I have first-hand knowledge of herbalism and natural remedies. That’s why my first stop is the kitchen; the shelves are your sources for nourishing and fresh ingredients for your DIY beauty recipes. Want to trade in flaking, dry lips for a soft, hydrated pout? The regimen is simple. Try my DIY recipes and the results might surprise you.

If you were one of hundreds stepping into Sephora this Wednesday, it was instantly clear that this was no ordinary shopping day. Though always busy, the beauty hub on 86th and Lexington was buzzing with a different kind of energy — DJ Vida was seamlessly mixing the hottest new tracks with classic favorites, Vita Coco representatives were handing out drinks, and every Sephora cast member was wearing an enormous button declaring, “The Doctor Is In!”
Today’s special guest? Renowned dermatologist, skin cancer researcher, and brand founder of Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare, Dr. Dennis Gross. Fresh from a day at his practice, 900 5th Dermatology, he brought his clinical expertise (and his team of experts) to lucky Sephora clients. From 5pm to 7pm, Dr. Gross sat with dedicated fans and brand newcomers alike during complimentary, personalized consultations — which would cost upwards of $250 at his office — thoroughly inspecting their skin and appraising individual needs. His team of experts were on hand to offer Sephora “patients” a gift of a 3-pack of the bestselling Alpha Beta® Peels and a deluxe sample of the Clarifying Colloidal Sulfur Mask, in addition to professional treatments. Clients were spotted seated near the popular Steamer Solutions, enjoying a relaxing facial, learning about the benefits of Ferulic Acid + Retinol Brightening Solution firsthand, and testing the new Ferulic + Retinol Fibroblast Anti-Aging Moisturizer.
By the end of the night, all were a Dr. Gross convert, with many visitors swearing to follow up with Dr. Gross for further treatment at his practice. As one client left toting a huge bag of products, she exclaimed, “I can’t believe I spent my whole night here!..but I loved every minute of it.”
As a DGSkincare staff member, I often receive so many products that I don’t know what to try first! (I know — cry me a river.) It takes about four weeks for most skincare products to see if it’s making a true difference in your skin, so I try to avoid excessive mixing and matching. But some of our formulas are truly benefit chameleons: if I don’t have room in my regimen for a serum, I can repurpose it as another skincare staple. Today’s powerhouse product is Active Vitamin D Serum-Oil. While I’ve already talked about Vitamin D’s benefits as an ingredient, you may be missing out on other ways to use the serum. Here are my favorite four off-label application tips:
When the holidays roll around, you can’t help but feel the spirit of giving – which is why over the past several years, the social media team has collaborated with some of our best brand buddies for a fabulous beauty, health, and style Tweetaway! We’re starting our givewaway this morning with T3’s Source Showerhead Filter, and we have many other great gifts this year (for yourself or for a friend), including TWO Clarisonics, a boatload of Tarte, Mally, and LORAC, and a completely covetable Milly bag.
It’s that time of year again! This Saturday, July 27th, is Super Saturday, an event held by the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. It’s a giant garage sale of high-end designers, cosmetics brands, and more — the proceeds of which go to the aforementioned charity — and is co-hosted by Kelly Ripa, Donna Karan, and InStyle.
It’s sponsored and broadcasted live by QVC, and we’re excited to announce that Dr. Gross will be on selling the Alpha Beta® Smoothing Body Towel. A personal favorite of mine, this body treatment exfoliates skin while treating it with powerful anti-aging ingredients — it even works to reduce shaving frequency! It’s a summer skincare essential, and with proceeds going to charity, how can you say no? Tune in 2pm EST Saturday!
It’s Independence Day weekend here in the United States and that means the average social calendar is a little busier than usual. I’m really looking forward to getting outside and enjoying the summer, but of course I’ll still be hyperprotective of my skin when it comes to sun exposure.
I may have mentioned that I don’t particularly enjoy putting on sunscreen. Not anymore: this has changed thanks to our newest, ONLINE EXCLUSIVE product, Sheer Mineral Sun Spray SPF 50+!
I’ve used other spray sunscreens and I’ve always missed spots or somehow otherwise messed up my application (one instance left me looking like a sunburn-striped zebra). However, I took this skinsaver to Florida with me not too long ago and found it super easy to apply, meaning I came back to New York the same degree of fairness that I departed with (minus Glow Pad, of course). What I especially liked is that it left no residue and no “sunscreen smell,” the bane of many of us skincare-savvy individuals. It’s also water-resistant for beach- and pool-bound adventures.
As if protection from the sun wasn’t enough, Sheer Mineral Sun Spray SPF 50+ is also packed with powerful anti-aging ingredients, including Ubiquinone, Resveratrol, and Vitamins C + E, which speed up cell turnover, protect skin from free radical damage, and slow collagen breakdown.
It’s only available online, so be sure to snap this summer essential up ASAP for all your outdoor outings! What are your weekend plans?
Bright and early this Thursday morning, I had the opportunity to go behind the scenes with the bubbly women behind Send The Trend as they interviewed Dr. Gross for QVC’s Beauty iQ newsletter. If you’re a subscriber, you’ll know that they have only just started this series — so we’re quite honored to be a brand they chose for one of their very first interviews!
I got the scoop on Send The Trend from their merchandiser/media maven/writer Lindsey — to find out what they’re all about, and her top picks for summer, keep reading!
Hey readers! Father’s Day is coming up this Sunday, June 16th — have you bought that special man in your life a gift yet? I personally have always had trouble picking a gift for my dad. He’s hard to shop for, and I’m always trying to find something that he’ll both like and actually use.
If you’re in the same boat, or just looking for something different than what you usually give your dad (ties? Tools? Grill-related equipment? Been there, done all of that), then consider skincare! I put together a special duo for dads, “Dad’s Essentials,” that consists of the father-friendly products Botanical Cleansing Bar and Age Erase Moisture for Face.
Botanical Cleansing Bar is great for everyone, but I’ve found that men like it because it’s a great multitasker: you can wash your face and body with it (my dad washes his hair with it, too!) as it’s hydrating and exfoliating. As for Age Erase Moisture for Face, it’s one of my favorite products from DGSkincare – I put it on before bed and it leaves my skin super soft.
If you haven’t visited DGSkincare’s Facebook page recently, you might not know that we’re counting down to something MAJOR this Monday, June 17th. We’ve all been gearing up big time for this, and I know you’re going to love it. Check back here or on dgskincare.com on Monday to find out what it is!
