Bright and early this Thursday morning, I had the opportunity to go behind the scenes with the bubbly women behind Send The Trend as they interviewed Dr. Gross for QVC’s Beauty iQ newsletter. If you’re a subscriber, you’ll know that they have only just started this series — so we’re quite honored to be a brand they chose for one of their very first interviews!
I got the scoop on Send The Trend from their merchandiser/media maven/writer Lindsey — to find out what they’re all about, and her top picks for summer, keep reading!
If you’re passionate about skincare and sun protection, I hope you haven’t missed the scientific study that both the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal wrote up this week.
Believe it or not, there hadn’t been “hard evidence” to support that sunscreen prevents photoaging before this study was published. The study, conducted over 4.5 years, consisted of 900 white Australians between 25 and 55 years of age. All were provided with an SPF 15+ to apply — half were asked to use it as they normally would, while the other half were assigned to daily use.
According to the Annals of Internal Medicine, those who applied sunscreen daily showed 24% less skin aging than those who used sunscreen inconsistently. Their skin was smoother with fewer wrinkles and more elastic (less sagging).
What do you think about this? I’m personally not at all surprised – Dr. Gross, along with most dermatologists, highly touts the benefits of using sunscreen regularly. (After all, he does have background as a skin cancer researcher!) I’ll admit, it can be hard to remember to apply sunscreen daily – at least for me – even though any sun exposure at all can cause skin damage.
I’m going to Florida this weekend, and while Tropical Storm Andrea may be crashing my vacation, I’ll be sure to load up on Powerful Sun Protection SPF 45. Psst! In a few weeks, we’ll be launching a new sunscreen — a physical sunscreen that’s a mineral mist — and it’s super easy to apply. I’m very excited about it, and I’ll keep you posted on more info!
What are your biggest concerns when it comes to sun exposure? Why? And what are your weekend plans?
